ATT 8525 wifi connection without a data plan?
I have upgraded my old phone through ATT and got an ATT 8525 (HTC 8525). It works fine, everything is OK, etc., etc.
I have a voice plan and do not have a data plan. I do not want the data plan either, because it costs too much.
But I want to be able to use the wifi now and then. I sent a couple of photos from my PDA and it works.
I went to a wifi area with my laptop (to make sure that the wifi was working), I turned on wifi on my PDA, took some photos and sent them successfully.
But the phone automatically uses the 3G service even when it is connected to wifi, and even though I do not have a data plan. On top of it, they charge you 10 times the price of a plan, because “you have used data services when you were not enrolled in a plan”.
How do I change settings so that I use the wifi instead of ATT’s data service?
I know EXACTLY what you are trying to do. Unfortunately I haven’t figured it out either. From what I’ve read you need to disable one of the connections so that it defaults to wi-fi. I’ve tried downloading some programs that are supposed to do that but I have been unsuccessful.
